Debunking Myths in Pressure Injury Prevention and Management Educational Series

Pressure injuries are one of the most pervasive and costly health conditions in the United States. The Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (AHRQ) estimates more than 2.5 million individuals in the U.S. develop pressure injuries annually, and more than 60,000 patients die each year as a direct result of pressure injury-related complications. Continued awareness and education are critical to decrease the incidence of pressure injuries and improve treatment outcomes. With contributions from the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel, this educational series will encourage critical thinking in the areas of skin failure, Q2 turning and the etiology of pressure injury.
